As summer is coming to an end, Domino’s corporate is proud to announce its summer hunger relief initiative was a great success!

According to Feeding America, 44 million people in the United States are considered food insecure – and many families rely on school breakfasts and lunches to feed their children a healthy meal. When schools close for the summer, these families often turn to food banks to help feed their children, resulting in an increased demand on these local organizations. For this reason, Domino’s strives to deliver relief by collecting food, donating funds and encouraging volunteerism amongst its team members across the U.S. during the summer.

Domino’s kicked off this initiative by hosting a food drive at its corporate headquarters to benefit Food Gatherers, a food rescue organization located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Thanks to the generosity of our team members, Domino’s collected nearly 400 lbs. of food!

In June, Domino’s finance department conducted a Lunches with Love activity, wherein they decorated brown paper lunch bags with colorful pictures and inspiring messages, and stuffed them with kid-friendly lunch items, such as mac and cheese and apple sauce. The team assembled more than 100 lunches, which were then distributed to children throughout the community by local food pantries.

Throughout the summer, Domino’s corporate team members across the country volunteered at local food banks, including Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver, Colorado, and Houston Food Bank in Houston, Texas. In total, Domino’s volunteers helped package more than 5,000 lbs. of food!

In addition to the hard work and generosity of our team members, Domino’s distributed over $230,000 in grants to local organizations working to fight food insecurity in the communities surrounding its headquarters, corporate-owned stores and supply chain centers. The funds can help provide more than 335,000 meals to people throughout local communities.

As a pizza company, Domino’s understands the power of a meal, and it has the unique ability to feed people quickly. This summer, Domino’s corporate worked with local franchisees to deliver more than 1,200 pizzas to various nonprofits around the Ann Arbor area.

Through its summer hunger relief initiative, Domino’s aimed to relieve the stress on local food banks that do tremendous work in our communities. As Domino’s continues to grow, we aspire to do more for our communities, including continuing our fight against food insecurity.
