Get to Know Maureen Pittenger

We sat down with Maureen Pittenger, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, to ask about her career, role and favorite Domino’s pizza!
Can you tell us a little about your background and what led you to this role?
I began my career in HR at Ford Motor Co. after obtaining a law degree. Following Ford's spinoff of Visteon Corp., I spent about 20 years working for Ford/Visteon. Later, I joined Dana, another top automotive supplier. My automotive career allowed me to travel globally, meet diverse people, and experience the operational nuances of a lean company, which honed my leadership skills and gave me a deep appreciation for running a global company. Seeking to apply my experiences to a different industry, I wanted a company that aligned with my values, was a strong brand that I could relate to and was growing. Domino’s was a great fit!
In addition to the work part of life, I have been married to my husband Shawn for almost 27 years. We have three sons, all of whom were excited about the natural move from cars to pizza!
What excites you about working for Domino’s and the company’s future?
Our Hungry for MORE growth strategy excites me about Domino’s future. Growth is challenging and exciting. I’m grateful to be a part of the journey.
What is your favorite aspect of your role?
My favorite aspect of my role has always been getting to know the team members. At Domino’s, that extends to our franchisees. I always say that we can create the most innovative HR program, and they can write books about it, but if it doesn’t meet the needs of our business and our team members, it won’t be a true success. Success comes from connecting the goals of our team members with the goals of our business. Making that connection is the best part of the job!
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career in HR?
The most rewarding part has been the achievement of making a new connection. I’ve had the privilege of working on teams building new tech centers and manufacturing facilities, witnessing those plans come to life. It's truly inspiring to see people's lives transformed by these opportunities and to watch the business thrive. These are truly amazing experiences.
What is one thing that people don’t know about you?
I’m a pretty open book, so I’ll share a silly one! I once had a squirrel break into my house—think of the vibes from the squirrel in the Christmas tree scene from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” Since then, they can make me jump. At our Domino’s World Resource Center, squirrels scurry by outside of conference room windows daily—I’ve ‘jumped’ once or twice!
What is your go-to Domino’s order?
I flex it a lot based on my mood! I like anything from New York Style, to Handmade Pan, to Crunchy Thin Crust, but I don’t think we have ever ordered without adding Stuffed Cheesy Bread – spinach and feta is a favorite!
