Leader dogs, pizza and magic – that’s what was in store for Domino’s Business Resource Group, Seeking Opportunities Above Resistance (SOAR), in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October.

To kick off the month, Domino’s team members from corporate headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, volunteered their time at Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Michigan. Leader Dogs for the Blind is an organization dedicated to providing freedom to the blind community through their free guide dog matching program, and orientation and mobility training. Team members took to the campus to help with year-end outdoor landscaping projects to prepare the facility for the upcoming winter season.

“I wanted to volunteer with Leader Dogs for the Blind because you don't have to see to be heard,” said Kelly Holland, Domino’s associate of regulatory affairs and contracts for the West Region. “Leader Dogs for the Blind supports this notion in everything they do."

Next, SOAR partnered with ALSAC’s Employee Affinity Resource Group to host a pizza party for the families at Domino’s Village on St. Jude’s campus in Memphis, Tennessee. ALSAC is the organization that raises the funds and awareness necessary to operate and maintain St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Afterwards, SOAR brought the Michigan chapter of A Kid Again back to Domino’s headquarters for a second year of pizza making. A Kid Again provides outings for entire families impacted by disabilities – a unique trait that allows the whole family to be involved.

To round out NDEAM, Domino’s hosted a magic show with Cody Clark. Team members gathered at Domino’s headquarters, as well as online, to watch Cody as he performed fascinating magical acts, while sharing his experiences with neurodiversity and how we can all be more inclusive to the neurodiverse population.

“Magic has no boundaries … neither do disabilities,” Kelly added.
