Tomorrow's World Today
Domino’s Supply Chain and Store Innovations Will Be Featured on “Tomorrow’s World Today”
Domino’s is always looking towards the future – the future of delivery, carryout, product innovation, in-store technology, supply chain operations, sustainability and everything in between! Customers know Domino’s for its delicious products and innovative customer-facing technology to make ordering and receiving pizza easier than ever, but what they may not know is that nearly every other facet of the business takes technology into consideration. Some of those innovations will be highlighted in season six, episode four of “Tomorrow’s World Today®,” which will air on the Science Channel on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
“Tomorrow’s World Today” explores the cutting-edge approaches that companies take towards concepts in science and technology, which change lives today and make a difference tomorrow. Domino’s episode is no exception! It was filmed in early 2023 at Domino’s supply chain center in Merrillville, Indiana, and at a locally owned Domino’s store in Munster, Indiana. The episode will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look into Domino’s innovative supply chain process and technology, where all of Domino’s Hand Tossed dough is made fresh and delivered to stores across the U.S. every day. Domino’s supply chain center in Merrillville alone delivers 90,000 dough balls every day to more than 300 Domino’s stores across five states in that region. Supply chain centers are where the magic of production, warehouse, maintenance, delivery and service come together to provide stores with everything they need to serve delicious menu items to customers across the U.S.
The show will also highlight innovative and sustainable technology within Domino’s stores which provides convenience not only to customers, but store team members! The show field reporter, Greg Costantino, will learn how to make a pizza and then join a Domino’s delivery driver on a special delivery via one of Domino’s custom-branded 2023 Chevy Bolt® electric vehicles. Domino’s EV fleet (which will be comprised of more than 1,100 vehicles by the end of 2023) provides several advantages for Domino’s stores, including ample battery life with the potential to have days of deliveries, zero tailpipe emissions, advanced safety features and lower average maintenance costs than nonelectric vehicles – all without the financial impact of high gas prices.
