Motor City Pride Offers Camaraderie and Community to Team Members

Domino’s team members and family walk the Motor City Pride Parade in Detroit on June 11, 2023.

Motor City Pride is Michigan’s largest pride celebration, with more than 50,000 participants gathering in Detroit at Hart Plaza. This year’s festival and parade were held on June 10 and 11, 2023. The Motor City Pride nonprofit organization has a mission to foster pride in and respect for the LGBTQ IA+ community in metro Detroit. This year marked the ninth consecutive year Domino’s has sponsored the festival.

“With our sponsorship of Motor City Pride, we can share in the mission to educate, advocate and celebrate our Domino’s LGBTQIA+ community,” said Jonathon Parker, Domino’s LGBTQIA+ employee resource group, True Colors, chair. “Those are the same pillars True Colors has, and being able to share in this mission with other organizations is a privilege. Showing up and supporting Motor City Pride shows we are doing more than feed the need, we’re feeding the power of possible.”

Domino’s corporate team members volunteered at the booth space along the festival’s “sponsorship row.” At the booth, Domino’s promoted hiring opportunities at Domino’s, offered free pizza samples, and increased awareness and fundraised for community nonprofit organization Stand with Trans. In addition, team members participated in the Motor City Pride parade, walking together and surprising some parade watchers with Domino’s gift cards.

In addition to supporting Motor City Pride and Stand with Trans, Domino’s is proud to support programming at Affirmations and Jim Toy Community Center. All of these nonprofit organizations work toward creating an inclusive culture in the neighborhoods around and near Domino’s headquarters. We thank them, and the many like them across the country, for providing safe spaces and resources for the LGBTQIA+ community.
