Supporting the Future of the Agriculture Industry

Amanda Stevenson is a student at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. She is studying environmental science, with the intention to pursue environmental and agriculture law. She is one of 18 college students who started this school year with a $1,000 FFA scholarship sponsored by Domino’s.

Amanda Stevenson believes in America’s farmers, and wants to make a living by serving them. Amanda graduated from California’s Nipomo High School in 2018, where she was actively involved in FFA – the Future Farmers of America. Now, Amanda attends California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and is studying environmental science, with the intention to pursue environmental and agriculture law. She wants to support the industry she learned about during her time as an FFA student. She is one of 18 college students who started this school year with a $1,000 FFA scholarship sponsored by Domino’s.

Through FFA, Amanda gained hands-on experience in agribusiness working under a master florist. She credits FFA and this position for teaching her the fundamentals of how to manage a job in the agriculture business by gaining heads-on experience in customer service, effective marketing techniques and the importance of accurate record-keeping. In addition to her work at the floral shop, Amanda raised market sheep and broiler chickens in her backyard.

“I enjoyed raising market animals because it helped me understand the true amount of hard work required to sustain another life,” said Amanda. “Through this part of my FFA experience, I developed a deep appreciation for those farmers and ranchers at the root of the agriculture industry.”

During her time as a member of the Nipomo FFA chapter, Amanda held multiple leadership positions, and won accolades and awards in various competitions at the local and state levels. She contributed to her community outside of FFA by volunteering at the Santa Barbara County Food Bank, the local elementary school and an organization named Growing Grounds.

Through her service to her school and community, Amanda demonstrated service, leadership, entrepreneurship and drive – all qualities in line with the Domino’s brand.

To complement her studies, she is a member of Cal Poly Sigma Alpha, a sorority dedicated to promoting women in agriculture.

As part of Domino’s five-year, $1 million commitment to FFA, Domino’s funds 18 scholarships per year to support young people pursuing careers in agriculture. Since 2017, Domino’s has funded college scholarships to 54 FFA members studying agriculture across 25 states in the U.S.
